Compatibility
According to the README, Omarchy Ask needs Omarchy Quattro 4.0.0 or newer with the Quickshell-based Omarchy Shell. The README names Omarchy 4.0.0-1 and 4.0.4-1, says later Quattro releases are intended to remain compatible, and says it is not compatible with Omarchy 3. It works with Claude Code or Codex over ACP and uses Hyprland bindings. For remote agents it can open Ghostty attached to a tmux pane over Eternal Terminal, mosh or ssh.
External costs
The README requires a working Claude Code or Codex login and names no plan or price. The repository is MIT-licensed and states no pricing. Your coding agent or model provider may charge for usage.
Permissions
The README's setup installs an enabled plugin at ~/.config/omarchy/plugins and bridge dependencies via npm ci. The README describes writing/watching ~/.config/omarchy/ask.json preferences. The README says Ask launches installed Codex/Claude from home unless ASK_CWD is set, requiring provider login. The README says Ask requests tool permission by default. The README says YOLO selects the agent's one-time allow option when offered, permitting tools without another click without changing capabilities or sandbox. The README says this selection is saved in ~/.config/omarchy/ask.json and shared by new conversations. The README describes remote agents in Ghostty via Eternal Terminal, mosh or SSH, with transport capability checks over SSH. The README describes one ACP bridge/session per conversation, images with text and launching selected apps or file-opening commands. The repository file list includes a scripts/ folder; the README does not describe its contents.

What it does

Omarchy Ask is an AI-enabled launcher for Omarchy. The README describes a box for questions to Claude Code or Codex over ACP and for selecting menu actions. The README says it reads the SUPER+SPACE menu definitions and launches applications.

The README lists file matching, pinned conversation windows, remembered text size, arithmetic, unit conversions, image paste and an Agentd Hub for remote agents. The README labels the expanded file, repository, window and agent search behavior as part of an unreleased worktree.

The README says Ask mode requests tool permission by default and YOLO selects the underlying agent's one-time allow option. The README says the focused-shortcut compositor integration is not yet released by the documented install command.

Who it is for

Omarchy users with a working Claude Code or Codex login who want a launcher that also answers questions through that agent.

Example tasks

Type a question in the Ask box and press Return to send it to Claude Code or Codex.
Type a menu row, arrow onto the match and press Return to run it.
Press Ctrl+P to move a live conversation into a normal window.
Press Ctrl+, to choose the harness, model and thinking level for new conversations.
Switch between the Ask and YOLO permission settings.

Getting started

The README installs the plugin with the omarchy plugin add command, pointed at the repository with the --enable and --yes options. It then runs cd ~/.config/omarchy/plugins/clickety-clacks.ask/bridge and npm ci. You add a Hyprland binding for CTRL + SHIFT + SPACE to ~/.config/hypr/bindings.lua, then reload Hyprland with hyprctl reload and check with hyprctl configerrors. The README has the exact commands.

Limitations

According to the README, Omarchy Ask needs Omarchy Quattro 4.0.0 or newer with the Quickshell-based Omarchy Shell, Node.js and npm, and a working Claude Code or Codex login. The README says it is not compatible with Omarchy 3 and its Waybar-based desktop. The README says Ask launches the system Codex or Claude executable from PATH rather than a bundled harness. Its setup instructions ask users to add a Hyprland binding. The README says parts of what it describes are in an unreleased worktree and not yet released by the install command. One example is the focused shortcut precedence module, which needs a specific Hyprland version and local build dependencies. The README says Ask keeps no transcript archive. The README says the unreleased worktree searches files and repositories across the user's full home directory by default; ASK_FILE_ROOT limits both indexes to another directory. The repository can change at any time; check its README before you install.

Data practices

The README says Ask keeps no transcript archive. The README says conversation text and ACP session state are held in the conversation process and disappear when its window closes. The README places preferences in ~/.config/omarchy/ask.json and remote-host transport observations under ~/.local/state/omarchy-ask/transport-capabilities/. The README says pasted images are sent with your text to the selected agent. The README says closing the conversation clears Ask's copies but does not erase source files, the system clipboard or harness-owned logs. It says the coding-agent CLIs may keep their own logs or session data, and Ask does not manage or erase that data. The README does not describe telemetry.
