Compatibility
According to the README: Claude Code with the local Codex CLI and Codex app server on the same machine, Node.js 18.18 or later, and either ChatGPT sign-in or an OpenAI API key. The README says Codex settings come from ~/.codex/config.toml and, for projects it calls trusted, .codex/config.toml.
External costs
The repository is Apache-2.0 licensed. The README says you need a ChatGPT subscription (including Free) or an OpenAI API key, and that usage counts toward your Codex usage limits. It warns that the optional review gate may drain those limits quickly. Your coding agent or model provider may charge for usage.
Permissions
The plugin acts through Claude Code and local Codex with the access you give them. The README says it uses the same Codex install, local authentication state, repository checkout and machine-local environment as the Codex CLI. The README describes global installation of the Codex CLI through npm, ChatGPT or API-key authentication, and reuse of user-level and trusted-project Codex configuration. The top-level file list includes scripts/; the README does not describe that folder. The README describes /codex:review and /codex:adversarial-review as read-only, and /codex:rescue as delegating tasks that can include trying a code fix. The README says a SessionStart hook supplies the current transcript path and /codex:transfer reads a session under ~/.claude/projects to create a persistent Codex thread. The README says jobs can run in the background and that the optional Stop-hook review gate can block Claude from stopping when issues are reported.
Usage terms
Apache License 2.0, as stated in the repository. See its LICENSE file for the exact terms.

What it does

This plugin provides Codex commands inside Claude Code. The README describes a read-only review command, a steerable adversarial review command, and delegation of tasks such as investigating a bug or trying a fix.

The README lists commands to inspect, retrieve results from and cancel background Codex jobs. The README says the transfer command creates a persistent Codex thread from the current Claude Code session for continuation with codex resume. The README says setup checks whether Codex is installed and authenticated and can manage an optional Stop-hook review gate.

The README says the plugin wraps the local Codex app server and uses the global codex binary with the configuration and authentication used by the Codex CLI.

Who it is for

Claude Code users who want to run Codex reviews or hand work to Codex without leaving their session.

Example tasks

Review your uncommitted changes with /codex:review
Start a review in the background with /codex:review --background, then check it with /codex:status and /codex:result
Run /codex:adversarial-review --base main challenge whether this was the right caching and retry design
Run /codex:rescue investigate why the tests started failing
Run /codex:transfer to continue the current session in Codex

Getting started

According to the README, in Claude Code run /plugin marketplace add openai/codex-plugin-cc, then /plugin install codex@openai-codex, then /reload-plugins, then /codex:setup. The README says that if Codex is missing and npm is available, /codex:setup can offer to install it. It also lists npm install -g @openai/codex for manual installation. If Codex is not signed in, the README says to run !codex login. The README has the exact commands.

Limitations

According to the README, you need Claude Code, a ChatGPT subscription (including Free) or an OpenAI API key, and Node.js 18.18 or later. The README says the plugin uses your local Codex CLI and Codex app server, and that usage contributes to your Codex usage limits. The README suggests running multi-file reviews in the background because they can take a while. It warns that the optional review gate can create a long-running Claude and Codex loop and may drain usage limits quickly. The README says the transfer command needs a Codex version that supports session import, and its session source must be under ~/.claude/projects. The repository can change at any time; check its README before you install.

Data practices

The README says the plugin delegates through your local Codex CLI and Codex app server on the same machine, using the same local sign-in, repository checkout and environment. It says the final output of a finished job is stored and can be shown with /codex:result, and that tasks can be resumed in Codex with codex resume. It points to the Codex documentation for configuration and does not describe where Codex sends your code.
